Ahhh, you are so wise, my friend! I prefer to stumble into the holidays with no plan and run haphazardly from one event to the next, shopping in a panic at midnight on amazon.com for people I forgot to put on the list, and propping myself up with caffeine after crashing from the inevitable sugar highs after eating way too many holiday treats! Your way sounds much better. I will give it a try this year!

We are trying to cut back as well this year, with space and financial restrictions. The only Christmas decoration I packed for this year was our Advent calendar and the Advent book, hoping this will help keep our focus on what matters!

Hi Wendy...I've seen 3-4 posts about pre-holiday planning this weekend, so great minds must be thinking alike. You've all got me thinking for sure!

I wanted to tell you that we've cut our gift list down considerably too in the last several years. We use this little poem that I borrowed from a friend as our gift guide. My kids each get:

Something they want
Something they need
Something to play with
And something to read.

I also pray over my gift list...as I'm making it and before I start shopping. I'm a last minute person when it comes to shopping but only because I don't like shopping at any time during the year and have to psych myself up for shopping during the holiday season. Wish I could get in the habit of shopping throughout the year.
