We serve an active God and I want my kids jumping for joy when they read the bible, not wishing they could do something else. I try to incorporate the devotionals into the most active fun part of the day. We may read the verses while tossing a ball and discuss the questions while they wait their turn to crawl through the tunnel or jump on the trampoline. The kids love to get out the instraments and create a rythm to a verse or parade around the house while chanting it. Kids learn best when they are actively engaged. Most two year olds are not programmed to sit, but they can learn scripture, incorporate it into their lives and learn to love God by putting God's word into the things your children love to do. God asks us to take up our cross and follow him, he requires action, he wants us to get dirty. I want my kids to learn to talk about God during all their activity and play it will help them become wonderful witnesses. So at age 4, 2, and 10 months, my children don't sit through devotionals, they dance, parade, and play through them and they are learning that learning about God is a joyful activity! At dinner we often discuss the devotional and most of the time, they get it!</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8917080169174419514/363995691825666099/comments/default/8038350975791355187'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8917080169174419514/363995691825666099/comments/default/8038350975791355187'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.thecelebratedfamily.com/2008/03/week-5-devotion.html?showComment=1205020500000#c8038350975791355187' title=''/><author><name>Teri</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/09984126932504329300</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.thecelebratedfamily.com/2008/03/week-5-devotion.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8917080169174419514.post-363995691825666099' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8917080169174419514/posts/default/363995691825666099' type='text/html'/></entry></feed>
